About our Department:
The Appeals Team Leader will sit within our Quality and Registry team that is the Universities administration hub for our students. It is responsible for a wide range of functions, from governance through to student administration, marking and assessment. The team are also responsible for processing all results and grades for the student’s and produce all certificates that are awarded at the graduation ceremony.
About the Opportunity:
The Appeals Team Leader plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Academic Appeals Team, ensuring the effective management and resolution of student appeal casework. The role is responsible for delivering a high-quality, consistent service that supports students while maintaining the integrity of the University’s academic governance framework.
Leading the operational delivery of the appeals process, the position ensures that all cases are managed in accordance with Arden University’s policies and procedures, as well as relevant external regulatory requirements. The role safeguards fairness, transparency, and compliance across all appeal activities.
The Appeals Team Leader drives service excellence within the team, embedding best practice, maintaining high standards of case management, and ensuring timely, clear communication with students and internal stakeholders.
About You:
Essential Skills / Experience
First line managerial experience – scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work by others.
Experience of prioritising work to meet deadlines.
Experience of case management or academic administration
Experience of minute taking and providing secretarial support to formal committee or panels and meetings involving internal and external stakeholders.
Used to working in a fast-paced environment under time pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Experience of working with a variety of IT systems including SharePoint and office 365, Microsoft packages.
Experience of handling and investigating complex queries.
Experience of action planning and reporting
An understanding of case management, and effective triage.
Experience of working/responding independently and dealing with unforeseen problems and circumstances and using own initiative.
Understanding of data protection principles and how they apply to work practice.
Desirable Skills / Experience:
Experience of working in a Higher Education/Further Education environment.
Experience of working with student record systems or large IT record systems’
