What you would be doing
The position of Staffing Administrator provides front-line staffing and administrative support for the Department of Chemical Engineering. Responsible for responding to a wide range of queries relating to People and Staffing from staff at all levels across the Department, ensuring that all queries are resolved efficiently following established processes.Working closely with the Staffing & Administration Manager, the postholder will take a lead role in the administration of People Function transactional processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and contract administration, as well as the coordination of both recurrent and ad hoc staffing activities. The role is key to ensuring that all staffing processes are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with institutional policies and procedures, supporting both existing staff within the Department and new starters.
What we are looking for
Relevant experience in administering People processes, ideally within a complex or large organisation.
Relevant administrative experience, with a proven proactive approach to delivering a comprehensive, high-quality administrative service.
Experience of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and managing multiple priorities in a busy environment.
Knowledge of best practice in administrative service delivery, including prioritisation, workflow management, and meeting service standards.
Understanding of large organisational structures and how professional services teams work in partnership with academic departments.
Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles and how these inform fair and consistent staffing practices.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a busy environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of administrative work.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement.
Ability to adapt to change and respond flexibly to new challenges and priorities.
