The Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (ACE)’s specific aims are to work for the implementation of better health and social care, identify developments within health and social care that are effective, efficient and high quality, and explore and understand experiences of health and social care.
We are looking for a senior member of staff to join our successful Knowledge Synthesis team within the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (ACE). The postholder will work across a portfolio of research grants in healthcare, public health and social care topics, and will help to lead and develop the wider Knowledge Synthesis team under the direction of Professor Miriam Brazzelli.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Post-graduate qualification to PhD level, or equivalent doctoral degree (or substantial relevant professional experience) in a relevant discipline
Demonstrable ability to conduct high-quality research, including experience in conducting evidence syntheses of quantitative and qualitative studies
Track record of publications in a relevant area of health, public health, or social care
Good understanding of the methods for summarising and synthesising data from individual research studies
Ability to use AI to support evidence synthesis, including as part of research to evaluate AI
Demonstrable ability to attract and secure research funding
Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to supervise and train less experienced research staff
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet research deadlines
Ability to use initiative and sound judgement to solve problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Professionalism, enthusiasm, diplomacy and leadership skills
For appointment at Grade 8, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate:
Proven ability to take a leadership role in health-related projects
A track record of developing original research ideas in a relevant field
A track record of winning research grants and leading research projects
Ability to lead the preparation of research outputs and peer-reviewed academic publications
Experience in managing and developing research staff
For appointment to Advanced Research Fellow, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale, £47,389 - £56,535 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
For appointment to Senior Research Fellow, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 scale, £59,966 - £67,468 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK. This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route under the UKVI immigration rules but is dependent on factors specific to the candidate and if tradeable points can be used under the rules.
