Role overviewWe are looking for a proactive and customer‑focused professional to join the University of Sunderland in London as a Student Journey Officer. This role plays a key part in delivering efficient, high‑quality services that support our students on their journey with us.
The position suits someone who thrives in a busy environment, manages competing priorities confidently, and values excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver a high-quality, student-centred enquiry service for international students, resolving queries or escalating where needed.
Provide accurate and efficient administrative support across the student lifecycle (enrolment to graduation).
Coordinate and support communications and engagement activities to enhance the international student experience.
Maintain accurate student records, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations (e.g. GDPR, safeguarding).
Monitor student attendance and proactively support ‘at risk’ students, escalating concerns appropriately.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure a seamless, joined-up student service.
Support the planning, promotion and delivery of events and activities for international students.
Essential Requirements
Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent).
Experience in an administrative and customer-focused role.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice and guidance.
Competence in IT systems including Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to problem-solve, take ownership of enquiries, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
Experience in a customer‑focused or administrative role.
Desirable
Experience of working with international students in a support role in Further or Higher Education.
Knowledge of compliance requirements in relation to international students.
