We are looking for a passionate and student-focused Senior Lecturer in Social Work to join our new and growing team at University College Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our Social Work programmes and wider Social Work department.
You will be an engaging and innovative educator, qualified to Postgraduate Diploma or Masters level and registered with Social Work England.
You will work closely with colleagues to develop the curriculum, lead innovation in teaching and learning, and support our strong relationships with placement providers and employers. We welcome creative ideas—particularly those that make the most of digital tools and bring learning to life in ways that reflect the realities of contemporary social work practice.
You will be involved in designing and leading engaging, inclusive teaching that applies theory to real-world social work practice. You will also support students/apprentices through their learning journey, helping them to build confidence and professional practice skills.
You will have experience of teaching in Higher Education and leading social approved work programmes. You will also understand the needs of diverse learners and be committed to widening participation. Most importantly, you will care about making a difference—for your learners and for the social work profession. We welcome applications from candidates with a background in adults and/or mental health social work.
