Description of Post

The successful candidate will be working alongside the current technical team in the Department of Life & Physical Science. Day to day responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Enabling the effective delivery of practical modules assigned to them from start to finish. Including the preparation of reagents and materials, laboratory set up, laboratory clean up and chemical/biological waste management, when the practical is completed.
• Health and safety tasks, stock management, replenishment of consumable materials and ensuring the general upkeep of laboratories and other practical facilities within the department.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Ordinary Degree (Level 7) as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) in one of the following areas: Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Analytical Science.
• At least one year’s postgraduate experience.
• Ability to take initiative and work with people.
• Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
• Evidence of personal development through further skills development. · Good technical knowledge in designated area.
