Main Responsibilities

You will be based at the Centre of Patient Reported Outcome Research (CPROR), Department of Applied Health Sciences on the main University of Birmingham campus in Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK. CPROR is internationally recognised for its leading research into best practice for Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) across clinical trials, routine care, and regulatory science. We also undertake qualitative and mixed-methods research across a range of clinical areas.

We are recruiting a Research Fellow to join our team. The post will be part of the NIHR-funded LUCIA project where you will work as a qualitative researcher, alongside lived experience co-researchers, as part of a major UK-wide clinical trial investigating the effectiveness of bilateral cochlear implants for adults with severe-profound hearing loss. In addition to this role, you will work alongside CPROR colleagues as part of the NIHR-funded Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre’s PRO Theme.

The postholder will be responsible for conducting qualitative data collection and analysis for multiple aspects of the LUCIA study, including a nested qualitative study within the main trial and a process evaluation. The postholder will also contribute to BRC projects, including conducting living evidence synthesis in the field of PROs.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent experience as a qualitative or mixed-methods researcher and relevant experience in the conduct of systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
