About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the communications strategy for the Department of Aeronautics alongside the delivery of high-quality events. The Department has almost 800 students and approximately 130 members of staff and so strong communication both internally and externally in this busy and vibrant department is essential.

What you would be doing:

You will manage and develop the Departmental website and digital media, and assist academics and senior management to engage with the website and social media channels. You will help to develop strategies for internal communications, brand management, and use your knowledge and experience to share and promote best-practice across the Department.

You will be responsible for the planning and execution of the Department’s participation in high-profile events as well as taking a leading role in coordinating and managing events designed to promote the Department and its teaching and research activities to key internal and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

  • A degree, or equivalent, ideally in English or Communications, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of writing content for different audiences and across a variety of media channels.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining websites
  • Experience of planning and managing events
  • Experience of using web analytics tools and of producing reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc… to a high level as well as having the technical proficiency to pick up new IT packages quickly
