Advance the translation of novel medical device technology and address the critical unmet clinical need for treating and preventing medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). Join a multidisciplinary research group within the Faculty of Health at the University of Sheffield as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on an ambitious, interdisciplinary project led by Professor Cheryl Miller. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of biomaterial science, microbiology, and translational clinical research.

You will comprehensively evaluate zinc-substituted nano-hydroxyapatites using state-of-the-art tissue culture facilities to investigate mucosal healing and bone regeneration. By combining wet-lab materials manufacture with advanced microbiological and tissue culture analysis—including the isolation, antimicrobial assay and sequencing of bacteria isolated from MRONJ patients—your work will directly accelerate the development of a novel medical device intended for significant patient impact.

We are seeking researchers with a PhD in biomaterials or related biomedical science discipline, with proven expertise in tissue culture and materials characterisation. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, engaging with clinical stakeholders, industry partners, and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) groups to support the commercialisation and translational goals of the project.
