About the role:

The Senior Learning Design Manager will manage learning design experts to deliver high‑quality, engaging, and inclusive learning experience design and delivery in collaboration with stakeholders.

The postholder will work in close collaboration with the Learning Experience Futures team and Lifelong Learning partners to ensure alignment with the aims of Imperial Lifelong Learning (LLL) and to enable collaborative learning experience design and delivery.

What you would be doing:

  • You will lead and develop a team of learning designers, managing performance, growth, and team capability
  • You will ensure excellence in learning design practices, setting standards and overseeing quality across all outputs
  • You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to co-design and evaluate high‑quality learning experiences
  • You will drive innovation and continuous improvement, designing and delivering learning experiences that support Imperial’s lifelong learning strategy

What we are looking for:

  • Master’s level (or equivalent) qualification, in education, learning design, or educational technology
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams, with the ability to support performance, wellbeing, and professional growth across the full employee lifecycle
  • Strong expertise in learning design and pedagogy, with a deep understanding of learning science and experience delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences
  • Ability to drive quality and innovation in lifelong learning by co-creating inclusive, scalable learning experiences.
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams (e.g. media, UX, data, and technology) to enhance learning design and educational outcomes
  • Interest in emerging approaches and technologies (e.g. learning analytics, AI, XR,), with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and sharing good practice.
