Description of Post

ATU is a new Technological University in the west and northwest of Ireland formed from the merger of three Institutes of Technology in 2022.  The Faculty of Science and Health is developing a new programme of study in

Veterinary Medicine with a view to welcoming the first cohort of students in September 2026.  This programme will complement existing programmes in

Veterinary Nursing and Agriculture and increase the provision of Veterinary Medicine education in Ireland.  This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join the Veterinary Medicine programme team and to shape veterinary medicine education provision in Ireland.

Essential Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in a relevant Level 9 Programme [as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)] or equivalent.
  • An honours degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised degree awarding body and be registered, or eligible to register, as a Veterinary Practitioner with the Veterinary Council of Ireland.
  • Three years relevant post-qualification experience.

Applicants must have completed a suitable teaching and learning programme in line with the requirements of the Veterinary Council of Ireland.  An applicant who has not completed a suitable teaching and learning programme will be deemed to have meet the minimum requirements, upon receipt of a commitment to commence appropriate training within one year of appointment.
