Chester Medical School invites applications for the post of Senior Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation to support the strategic leadership and delivery of its MBChB Graduate Entry Medicine programme.

This is a senior academic role offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the strategic development, leadership, and quality assurance of clinical skills and simulation-based education within a newly established and rapidly expanding Medical School.

Role Summary

Working in partnership with the Clinical Skills and Simulation Lead, the postholder will provide academic leadership and operational oversight of clinical skills and simulation teaching, learning, and assessment across the MBChB curriculum.

The role includes responsibility for supporting curriculum development, ensuring alignment with General Medical Council (GMC) Outcomes for Graduates, and contributing to the design, delivery, and quality assurance of assessments, including Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).

The postholder will also deputise for the Clinical Skills and Simulation Lead as required and contribute to the wider strategic direction of the programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic input into the development, delivery, and evaluation of clinical skills and simulation within the MBChB programme
  • Support the leadership, coordination, and quality assurance of teaching and assessment activities, including OSCEs and workplace-based assessments
  • Contribute to curriculum design and enhancement, ensuring compliance with GMC standards and best practice
  • Deputise for the Clinical Skills and Simulation Lead in relevant committees and operational matters
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical placement providers and partner organisations
  • Support the effective operation of the Clinical Skills Hub, including resource planning and team coordination
  • Engage with regional and national networks to ensure teaching reflects contemporary developments and innovation
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes, audits, and external reviews
  • Provide academic leadership, mentorship, and support to colleagues within the clinical skills and simulation team
  • Undertake research and scholarly activity in medical education and contribute to publications and dissemination
