Bath Spa U Ltd is seeking an experienced Academic Delivery Manager to ensure high quality academic delivery across its programmes. This role is central to maintaining academic standards, enhancing student outcomes, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements, including those of the Office for Students.
Working closely with the Head of Academic Services, the postholder will lead Programme Leaders and academic teams, overseeing teaching, learning, assessment, and student engagement. The role operates at the intersection of academic and professional services, ensuring coordinated delivery and a high quality student experience across all campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership and Quality Assurance:
Provide leadership across programmes, ensuring consistent and high quality delivery aligned with Bath Spa University regulations, policies, and programme documentation. Maintain academic standards, oversee quality assurance processes, and ensure compliance with OfS requirements.
- Learning, Teaching and Assessment Enhancement:
Ensure consistency and quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback. Oversee fair assessment practices, moderation, and timely feedback. Support teaching observation and staff development initiatives.
- Programme Performance and Student Outcomes:
Monitor performance indicators including retention, progression, and attainment. Identify risks and implement targeted interventions in collaboration with academic and professional service teams. Enhance student engagement, attendance, and overall experience, including NSS outcomes.
- Academic Planning and Delivery:
Oversee academic planning, including timetables, assessment schedules, and delivery models. Work with operational teams to ensure effective programme delivery across sites. Support staff allocation, recruitment, and workload planning.
- People Leadership:
Lead and manage Programme Leaders, ensuring accountability and performance. Contribute to academic staff recruitment and workforce planning.
- Strategic Contribution:
Provide insight on academic performance and delivery risks. Contribute to programme development, curriculum design, and institutional planning in partnership with Bath Spa University colleagues.
- Collaboration
Act as a key link between academic teams and professional services, supporting effective communication and smooth academic operations.
Person Specification
Essential
- A Master’s degree or equivalent
- Significant experience in higher education academic leadership or programme management
- Strong understanding of UK HE quality assurance, academic standards, and student outcomes
- Experience in assessment, moderation, and academic governance
- Excellent leadership, organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience in multi campus or partner delivery environments
- Knowledge of OfS regulatory requirements
- Experience in curriculum design and working with external examiners
