Description of Post

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full time, specific purpose position as a Post Doctoral Researcher (Agentic AI) within the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

The successful candidate will lead the development of a Secure Agentive AI Workflow that supports automated video analysis and VR content distribution, with a specific focus on enhancing the well being, safety, and quality of life of elderly individuals. This project aims to connect advanced multimedia processing with GDPR compliant privacy frameworks to create immersive, supportive, and accessible VR experiences for older adults. You will be responsible for architecting an “Agentic” ecosystem in which autonomous AI entities manage video ingestion, metadata generation, and secure streaming of personalized VR environments designed to promote cognitive stimulation, social connection, and emotional well being among the elderly.

The postholder will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment and work closely with collaborators across ATU, WISAR, HEAL, Janus, and external consultants. There will be opportunities for professional development and for expanding a portfolio in agentic AI systems for healthcare, digital therapeutics, and technology enabled supports that improve the daily lives of older adults.

Essential Qualifications

  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence or a related field or exceptionally, equivalent * research experience (including industrial R&D).
  • Have demonstrable experience the development of AI solutions.
  • Proficiency with Python, Py|Torch, TensorFlow or JAX.
  • Proficiency in LLMs, reinforced learning and agentic workflows.
  • Familiarity with foundational models, agent frameworks (e.g. LangChain, AutoGen or other orchestrations.
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation ability
  • Self-driven research mindset.

* EU defines a PhD equivalent as 4 years fulltime research after a primary degree
