About us

The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office is a collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. It was set up to provide a single interface for those wishing to conduct clinical trials within the Partner Organisations, and to ensure that there are common, efficient processes for the set up and administration of clinical trials.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and creative part-time (0.6 WTE) Communications Manager who will provide communications support for the KHP-CTO, focussing on engagement with the Partner Organisations and external stakeholders such as pharmaceutical companies.

The successful candidate will take a proactive and collaborative approach to delivering communications and have experience of a broad range of communications activities, including website management and newsletters.

The post-holder will:

  • Source and create content for a range of different audiences (both internal & external) and adapt their communication style accordingly
  • Be able to distil complex research and medical information into easy to understand & engaging copy
  • Build reciprocal relationships with the communications teams at the Partner Organisations and work closely with them to promote the KHP-CTO
  • Work with the KHP-CTO leadership team to organise and support events (both internal & external). This may involve identifying suitable venues, liaising with relevant speakers & participants, organising all aspects of exhibition/conference attendance, provision of appropriate exhibition stands & materials, and logistics on the day. 

This post is office based for a minimum of 2 days per week. 

This is a 24-month fixed-term post. We’re looking for someone to start asap. 

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Significant experience of working in public relations or a communications environment, preferably within an NHS, academic or research environment.
  3. Excellent verbal and writing skills including editing and proof reading to a high level.
  4. Ability to produce effective content for a diverse audience, across multiple channels in a timely fashion & evaluating their success.
  5. Experience of absorbing and evaluating complex information from various sources to create clear and engaging content.
  6. Experience of adjusting messaging, tones and styles for different internal and external audiences.
  7. Ability to relate easily to a wide range of people using different communication styles in a large & complex organisation.
  8. Experience creating and managing web content within a content management system.

  1. Experience of event planning, delivery & evaluation
