Salary: The full-time equivalent salary for this position is £47,329 per annum, equating to £37,863 per annum for this part-time role.

Contract Type: 12-month, Fixed-term contract starting on 04 August 2026 and ending 31 July 2027

Hours: Part-time (equivalent to 32 hours per week)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the faculty as Unit Leader of a brand-new course at London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS). A globally-oriented postgraduate programme, it blends creative practice, pedagogy, and critical inquiry, preparing artists and educators to design inclusive curricula.

The Course Leader leads on curriculum development, student experience, academic standards and team coordination, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.

Job Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of the professional field of dance education, relevant discourse, and contextual research and/or creative practice within educational contexts.
  • Excellent differentiated written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to support and mentor individuals.
  • Competent in budgeting and financial planning.
  • Experience of course/programme leadership at postgraduate-level, including curriculum design and/or development in higher education or professional contexts.
  • Postgraduate Degree level qualification in a relevant area or equivalent industry experience.
  • Fosters positive relationships with students.
  • Works effectively within a team and independently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ongoing development, delivery and reviewing of the MA Creative Dance Education curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality student-centred teaching and learning, as appropriate to unit plans and your areas of expertise.
  • Oversee assessment design, moderation and feedback practices to ensure consistency and clarity.
  • Lead, manage, and support Unit Leaders & visiting lecturers in the planning and delivery of the programme.
  • Contribute to staff development, mentoring and the sharing of good practice in teaching and assessment.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, including admissions processes, interviews and outreach activity.
  • Oversee the academic progress and pastoral support of students across the programme.
  • Undertake a programme of Continuing Professional Development for review at annual appraisal.
  • Attend and participate in LCDS and cross-organisation Meetings and Committees.
  • Contribute to the wider research culture across The Place through practice, publication, etc.
