Reporting to the Director of the MEC, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality administration, events and communications support for the Centre. You will be based in-person at the MEC and act as the first point of contact for Centre enquiries, helping maintain the Centre’s strong public profile and welcoming environment.

The MEC hosts a busy programme of seminars, conferences and special lectures throughout the year. Working closely with Fellows, visiting academics and students, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the Centre and coordinate a broad range of operational activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating seminars, conferences and special lectures
  • Managing event communications, publicity and Oxford Events listings
  • Supporting Visiting Fellowships, Academic Visitorships and Studentships
  • Managing the Centre’s website, newsletters and social media presence
  • Responding to enquiries and supporting visiting academics and students
  • Arranging meetings, travel and committee administration
  • Supporting budgets, invoices and fundraising activity
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with UK GDPR
  • Liaising with College teams regarding Centre operations and health and safety

You will have:

  • Previous administrative experience with strong attention to detail
  • Experience coordinating events and communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities
  • A flexible, proactive and collaborative approach

Experience in Higher Education, committee servicing experience, and knowledge of or interest in the Middle East would be advantageous.

St Antony’s is a vibrant, international graduate-only college of the University of Oxford. The Middle East Centre is a leading hub for research, teaching and public engagement on the modern Middle East and North Africa.

We offer an excellent benefits package, including 41 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays), pension scheme membership, free staff meals, travel schemes and access to University facilities.
