Are you a clinician with a passion for remote or expedition medicine, ready to inspire the next generation of expedition medics?

About the role

This part-time lecturer position (1 day per week) sits within the Peninsula Medical School at the University of Plymouth, contributing to a newly developed MSc in Expedition and Marine Medicine. Building on the Peninsula Medical School's long history of remote medicine teaching and combining the University's strengths in health and marine sciences, this programme prepares clinicians for practice across some of the world's most demanding environments. Developed in close partnership with Endeavour Medical, it blends rigorous academic teaching with adventurous, situational skills-based learning, and you will play a central role in bringing that vision to life.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading core modules such as Mountain and Polar Expedition Medicine, Marine Medicine and Human Factors in Extreme Environments, combining classroom theory with practical, scenario-based skills sessions
  • Helping to manage residential placements on Dartmoor and the Cornish coast, as well as an international expedition to the mountains of Morocco, in partnership with Endeavour Medical
  • Supporting students in developing individual research dissertation projects with an expedition or marine medicine focus
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and quality of a programme.
  • Providing pastoral support and academic guidance to a cohort of clinicians and allied health professionals studying at Masters level
